Evaluation Question 4 - How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluating stages? - Part 3

EVALUATION
For this question I used several different presentation softwares:
Prezi - an online presentation software
Photo Booth - a screen and video recorder on my laptop which lets me record my voice over the top of showing certain things on screen.
Slideshare - A Powerpoint presentation.
iMovie - video editing software

Evaluation Question 4 - How did you use new media technologies in the construction and research, planning and evaluating stages? - Part 1

RESEARCH AND PLANNING
YouTube - www.youtube.com
I used YouTube a lot in my research and planning, it let me embed videos into my research to then show what I mean in a physical sense, rather than just trying to explain it. I used music videos to then take inspiration from, what shots we can use, editing techniques etc. and helped us further out development into our products. We also used YouTube to find out how musc video editors use a certain editing technique and find out how they do it.
Facebook - www.facebook.com
Facebook has definitely helped me in terms of research, we decided as a group to make a 'group chat', so then if any of us have any ideas we want to put forward, we can use this chat to then talk to each other, which makes it very convenient because we are all very regular users of Facebook.

We had a couple of skills development activities, especially in video editing
We had a whole day of making a music video with professionals in the business, and this then helped us out with getting advice from people who know what they're talking about.

Our first exercise was in the A2 fortnight, and had to recreate a music video, this introduced us to filming and editing.

This was an exercise in editing skills, to test whether or not to make cuts at certain places, such as synchronised beats.
We researched our audience by going in depth of our chosen genre and then picking out social groups of people who we think listen to that genre. We then went into depth about that social groups interests and stereotypical hobbies and the kind of bands they listen to, so we researched some bands and their websites and digipaks etc, and this gave us inspiration on how to base our products onto then fit the genre that we chose.

We also created an animatic, this then gave us an overall view of how we wanted our video to look, and how it comes together. It also shows which shots we want to use when and where, and we can put in the 'salt and pepper' moments. For this, we used final cut pro, to we also used a scanner to scan all the images of the shots in, and put them into the video with the backing track in the background.

Evaluation Question 3 - What have you learned from your audience feedback?

OUR TARGET AUDIENCE
https://uk.pinterest.com/robert_terry/our-target-audience/
This pinterest from a previous blog post shows our target audience, who they are and what they are in
to.

This video features a lot of the audience, and it shows the kind of audience that we also share.

We gained a lot of feedback from our products from our audience. We take feedback very seriously, as it is very important to us and shows how we can make our products even better. Audiences are encouraged to leave feedback on products like ours, it is done especially through social media, people get asked to leave comments on YouTube videos, and also Facebook and Twitter posts.

We had a lot of feedback, we took it also to social media, and also by emailing other students to fill in a questionnaire. You can see our feedback on previous blog posts. We got given a lot of advice on how to improve our products and it let us apply this to our products. Our final feedback on our very final products said we still have room for improvement on all of our products, so we need some re-filming, and also the website needs some tidying up, and also feature some new images on the digipak.

Evaluation Question 2 - How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?

Evaluation Question 1 - In what ways do your products use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? - Digipak

FINAL WEBSITE

This is the link to the final website: http://betsyconn.wix.com/mockwebsite
The new website has a new background from the photo shoot on all pages, there is also a lot more information concerning tours and merchandise.

FINAL MUSIC VIDEO

The new and improved video has added an extra location, in the chorus, to show more performance and costume ideas, and also time of day, to vary up the video a lot more. We have also used a slightly red filter over some shots to make them look indie and pleasing to look at.

FINAL DIGIPAK

This is our final digipak. The front and back cover are taken from the photoshoot that we did as a group, to make it look as professional as possible, and also applied a slight sepia filter to look more indie. The top part is from the photoshoot at Pen Hill, with the band in the middle as part of the CD. The inner fold is taken from the band rehearsal photo shoot, to show the band as fun, loving people.

Video Development

Here shows the filters that we have added to the video to give a more 'indie' look.

Digipak Development

This image was taken at the band podcast shoot, we will feature this somehwere on the digipak or the website.
This idea is inspired by The Vampire Weekends' Contra, using a slightly pale purple background, and having one member on the front, and the band name at the top and the album title under neath.
We tried to recreate our rough digipak for one image of the digipaks.
This image involves each member of the band, and using the black and white effect as I mentioned earlier.
We are now using this image and the complete inside fold of the digipak, we also may use the fisheye effect for this.
This shows a font research on which one to use on the front cover of the digipak, we found that this font is very popular in the indie genre.

Above shows a development of a new digipak idea, with our latest photo shoot, and having all the band on the front and back instead of just one member.
